2008

Here we are in the year 2008. Do you have a favourite number?
The number eight is considered a money number in many Asian countries. The explanation I was given was that eight on its side resembles the symbol for infinity, suggesting infinite wealth. And if you look at our dollar sign, $, it does look like the number eight.

The number eighteen in Jewish tradition is associated with the word "chai" in Hebrew. Chai means "life" in English. The two Hebrew letters that spell the word chai are equivalent to the numbers 8 and 10, which added together equal "18."

Roses are beautiful flowers and some are very fragrant. They are often given as symbols of love and friendship. But like anything sweet in life, you must deal with some pain, like the thorns on a rose's stem.

So this year. 2008, I wish you all a year of prosperity, good life and good health and to appreciate the beauty around you. And if you should ever be pricked by a thorn, don't hate the rose, instead appreciate it all the more.
